MeTaTop A Multi Sensory Table Top System for Medical Procedures (Video1)
Video Length: 00:01:17
Within the scope of the programming course Projekt Systementwicklung: Bildverarbeitung und Computer-Graphik mit C++ (WS2007/08) students implemented different applications and functionality for a tabletop system. Results include software for calibrating the system and detecting and sending tracking data of finger positions, interactive games and software for viewing medical imaging data.

Virtual Mirror: Interaction Paradigm for Augmented Reality Applications (Video1)
Video Length: 00:02:44
This video introduces a new method for navigated spine surgery using a stereoscopic video see-through head-mounted display (HMD) and an optical tracking system. Vertebrae are segmented from volumetric CT data and visualized in-situ. A surgical drilling device is virtually extended with a mirror for intuitive planning of the drill canal, control of drill direction and insertion depth. The first designated application for the virtually extended drilling device is the preparation of canals for pedicle screw implantation in spine surgery.

Deformable Shape Matching (Video1)
Video Length: 00:00:59
This video shows preliminary results of the deformable pattern matching algorithm that is developed in this project. It is important to note that neither spatial nor temporal coherence is used. The object is found despite partial occlusion, clutter, nonlinear illumination changes and shape deformation. Also significant noise and motion blur does not defeat the method.

Camera Augmented Mobile C-arm (Video1)
Video Length: 00:03:50
As an extension the camera augmented mobile c-arm system by Navab et al. 1999 we developed a multi-view system which offers 3D navigation during trauma surgery and orthopedic procedures. We use an additional video camera in an orthogonal arrangement to the first video camera and a minimum of two X-ray images.

Camera Augmented Mobile C-arm (Video2)
Video Length: 00:01:56
Standard X-ray images have a narrow field of view and can not visualize the entire long bone on a single image. We propose a novel method to generate panoramic X-ray images by using the Camera Augmented Mobile C-arm. This advanced mobile C-arm system can register the X-ray image with an optical image by construction, which facilitates the generation of panoramic X-ray images based on first stitching the optical images and then embedding the X-ray images.

SpeedUp (Video1)
Video Length: 00:00:20

People Videos

(Video1)
Video Length: 00:03:29
This video shows real-time tracking and detection of a perspectively distorted business card. Despite the big scale range, detection needs 100ms, tracking 20ms on a laptop computer. The application does not make much sense, but this is the kind of video researchers tend to produce to show their work.
