Inverse Problems in Tomography

PD Dr. Tobias Lasser

Research Focus

The Inverse Problems in Tomography group focuses on the research and development of novel algorithms and methods for modeling and solving inverse problems in tomographic imaging. Tomographic imaging methods have found a wide range of applications, ranging from medical diagnosis and therapy as well as biomedical research to non-destructive testing and security screening. Continuous advances in medicine, physics, mathematics and computer science have stimulated the development of various novel tomographic imaging methods. Our research is centered on such novel imaging methods, for example

  • tomography of the anisotropic X-ray dark-field
  • tomography for lightfield microscopy

Topics for Bachelor and Master Theses, Guided Research

Projects for Bachelor and Master Theses, as well as Guided Research, are always available. Here are some general project ideas:

  • forward models for lightfield microscopy
  • statistical modeling of the inverse problem in anisotropic X-ray dark-field tomography
  • efficient approximation algorithms for inverse problems
  • high-performance computing for applying the forward model

The concrete topic of a project might deviate from these general ideas, depending on your interests and requirements, as well as on our research interests. Please contact any of our team members via email to inquire about a potential project.
