Bachelor's Thesis / Master's Thesis - Purpose Competition

Abstract

Motivational benefits are the essential driving force behind Gamification and Serious Games. Dull tasks can be intensified, learning can be made accessible and joy can be found in unexpected places.

However, many categorizations show, that different game elements can cause different motivational impacts.

This project is about determining the precise effect competition has on participants in games with a purpose, respectively calibrational tasks in Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality.

How strong is the difference made? How do different competitional scenarios affect user behaviour?
