3D augmented virtuality sketching

Within the interdisciplinary project "Collaborative Design Platform" (http://cdp.ai.ar.tum.de/), a large-scale multitouch table was developed to aid urban planning and prototyping. The table interacts with the user over a multitouch surface, and can also scan objects positioned on top of it in 2.5 dimensions. In order to enhance its presentation cababilities, an additional display will be added, which offers a 3D augmented virtuality perspective on the workspace, which reflects both the physical and the virtual aspect of the scene. The view can be controlled using a special 3D mouse. In addition, the user can sketch and draw directly on the virtual world presented on the new display.

Tasks:

  • In depth literature search
  • Detailed concept
  • Development of an intuitive user interface and visualization
  • Evaluation of the prototype

Requirements

  • Communication skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Extraordinary motivation and the commitment to high performance
  • High interest in new user interfaces
