Cognitive Cell Manipulation Lab
The aim of the Cognitive Cell Manipulation Lab (CCML) is to introduce new opportunities in the area of image-guided micromanipulation of biological cells. With a multidisciplinary research team (robotics, imaging, artificial intelligence, biology, and medicine), our vision is to bring automation in cell micromanipulation.

The target application is automated (as opposed to manual) cell detection and transportation. Via a minimal interaction between the operator and the micromanipulator, operations are more accurate and time-effective. Cell detection and needle tracking are automatically performed through live microscope imaging. Visual servoing then enables navigation of the needle tip to any target cell. An intuitive user interface is provided for the operator to select a cell as well as the action to be performed, eg. picking it up and dropping it at another location.
