protocol 06 Feb 2004: general discussion about Ubitrack

Simulation Environment

  • possible support from TU Wien
  • read picture from graphics card, write to DWARF SharedMemory for ARToolkit Tracker
    (SEP Gerrit Hildebrand: VirtualCamera)
  • texture for walls (picture from some wall)
  • add fog

Ubitrack Goals

  • many different aspects in middleware, network routing, algorithmic concerns
  • goal (many years): flexibility and mathematical know-how
  • first steps toward an implementation in DWARF
  • expanding those first ideas for further research
  • interesting different algorithmic approaches for several aspects such as calibration, sensor fusion, error estimation, etc.
    dependent on set-up and requirements of the application
  • reusablility of the implementation in other parts of DWARF or a further implementation of the Ubitrack framework
    (only if API is really easy, otherwise partial reuse of code and services)
  • integration of Ubitrack in already existing applications
  • good diploma thesis
  • presentation of a demo
  • Ubitrack as an application for DWARF (demo, video-presentation, etc.)
  • expanding the abilities of the middleware
  • good example to consolidate the position of the DWARF Framework
