Abstract: | This talk summarises the work carried out by Upul Senanayake during his PhD? candidature at the University of New South Wales Sydney, Australia. Diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), which is a prodromal condition to Dementia, is considered to be an active research area as it holds a high prognosticative value in predicting an individual's progression to Dementia. In this talk, multiple modalities of data is explored and leveraged to improve such predictive efforts including patient data, neuropsychological test scores and multiple imaging modalities such as MRI and PET. A range of machine learning and image processing techniques are used for this purpose. Problems of interest include extracting meaningful data from multiple modalities of data, fusion between multiple modalities of data, leveraging the inherent characteristics of data to improve the performance and visualising the predictive efforts in a meaningful manner for the medical professionals. |
