Talk of Jochen Penne about the use of TOF-cameras in the operating room
Jochen Penne from Joachim Hornegger's group in Erlangen will be visiting us on Thursday the 27th of November. He will give a talk about his work on
TOF-cameras and their use in the operation room. The talk will take at 10:00 place in room 03.09.014.

Abstract
Time-of-Flight Cameras Conquer The Operation Room - Challenges And Limitations Time-of-Flight TOF cameras enable the marker-less real-time capable acquisition of 3D information in the sub-centimeter range at constant lateral resolution. The TOF working group at the Chair of Pattern Recognition addresses the applicability of TOF cameras in the operation room. On one hand this means the technical possibilities and limitations to install a TOF camera in an operation room with respect to a successful accomplishment of the TOF measurement principle; on the other hand this means the development of appropriate preprocessing steps and definition of suitable application scenarios, i.e. applications where the utilization of TOF cameras really provides a benefit. This talk will inform about current research activities at the Chair of Pattern Recognition (Edge-preserving distance data filtering, amplitude value normalization, TOF-based respiratory motion detection, TOF-based patient positioning, 3D gesture control) which focus on the utilization of TOF cameras in the operation room.
