HiWi position for medical image registration
Type: HiWi position

Supervision by:
Stefanie Demirci
Overview
Accurate alignment of intra-operative 2D and pre-operative 3D images may have crucial impact on procedural success rates. Most of existing methods, however, do not provide sufficient accuracy and robustness over a patient population. Despite the rising influence of machine learning approaches to various medical imaging applications, they have not yet found their way into 2D-3D image alignment. It is the main goal of this project is to organise for medical image data and its consistent storage in form of an image database. Besides efficient storage, this database is also supposed to perform automatic image preprocessing and image data mining based on available algorithms. Based upon this work there will probably be opportunities for further projects in this area at CAMP, e.g. IDP or Bachelor/Master thesis. If you are interested or if you have questions, please contact
Stefanie Demirci.
Clinical Setting
Besides office space at the FMI in Garching, the CAMP group maintains hospital labs at LMU as well as TUM medical centres located in the city of Munich. These facilities ensure close collaboration to medical partners which is a crucial basis for the data acquisition to be done in this particular project.
