Abstract
This research is conducted in the context of supra-adaptive logistics applications. In such applications workers have to adapt to new working conditions and environments quickly, frequently, and with minimal training. Augmented Reality (AR) has the potential to provide this very functionality.
The goal of this thesis (Bachelor/Master) ist to mount our Augmented Reality Laser Projector on a Picking Trolley to support the industrial Order Picking process. Order picking means that workers have to pick items out of numbered boxes in a warehouse, according to a work order. In several previous projects we have developed an Augmented Reality Laser Project and intensively evaluated the use of Head-mounted Display based Augmented Reality in warehouses. The task of this thesis is to combine those systems, strictly speaking, you have to mount our laser projector on a our trolley (which is tracked by fusing tracking signals from several sensors). The further goal is to make the laser projector pointing on the shelf from which the worker has to pick items, while at the same time it is possible to move the trolley. Further information (e.g how many items have to be picked) shall be provided on the additional display.
This research is done within the
Avilus Project . In a later stage (not mandatory within this work) the system shall be evaluated together with some of the several industrial partners.
