Thesis: Investigation and Implementation of Lightfield Forward Models

Thesis by: Josue Page
Advisor: Tobias Lasser
Supervision by: Anca Stefanoiu

Abstract

Light field microscopy is a scanless techniques for high speed 3D imaging of fluorescent specimens. A conventional microscope can be turned into a light field microscope by placing a microlens array in front of the camera, allowing for a full spatio-angular capture of the light field in a single snapshot. The recorded information can be used to volumetrically reconstruct the imaged sample.

Tasks

The aim of this thesis is to investigate and implement forward models for lightfield tomography. Variations of the setup, such as relative distances of the optical elements, the depth of field, the objective magnification or the aperture should be accounted for by employing appropriate approximations. The implemented models shall be evaluated on experimental lightfield data of different setups.

Requirements

Basic knowledge in optics, Matlab and C++ programming experience.
