Head-Up Displays (HUDs) are increasingly found in the automotive sector. In many of these systems, the windshield will be part of the optics. Currently, during development phase, the performance of the HUD is testet against a windscreen master, whose topology corresponds to the windshield. This work investigates whether and how the performance of all HUD derivatives can be measured against a communal windscreen master - the so called standard windscreen master. For this purpose, the influence of the windscreen on the imaging properties of interest is investigated and a method preserving the measuring capability is presented, by which imaging properties measured against the standard windscreen master can be traced back to the imaging properties measured against the windscreen master specific to the investigated HUD derivate.
