Einfluss eines aktiven Gaspedals auf Akzeptanz, Blickverhalten und Fahrperformanz (Effect of an Active Gas Pedal on Acceptance, Gaze Behavior and Driving Performance)

The following paper describes the effect of an active gas pedal on acceptance, gaze behaviour and driving performance. Starting from an accident statistics, the potential of a driver assistance for speed and distance keeping is shown. Afterwards the technical realisation of the active gas pedal will be described. After a description of the experiment with 29 test persons, the results are presented. They show a positive influence on the driver’s speed keeping ability. The driver is able to drive the allowed speed more accurate and excesses the allowed speed less often. The results show that the driver keep a shorter following distance with the active gas pedal whereas the time to collision does not change. Also the workload, measured with the NASA TLX, can be reduced significantly. Furthermore, the active gas pedal has a high acceptance.
