Estimation of Contrast Agent Motion from Cerebral Angiograms for Assessing Hemodynamic Alterations Following Aneurysm Treatment by Flow Diversion
13th Mediterranean Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering and Computing (MEDICON 2013), Sevilla, Spain, September 2013 (bib)

Quantitative assessment of hemodynamic changes induced by flow diversion could aid clinical decision making in the treatment of cerebral aneurysms by flow diversion. We propose to recover dense contrast motion fields from digital subtraction angiography (DSA) series by employing optical flow estimation based on conservation of mass and second-order regularization. In a retrospective study, metrics derived from the obtained motion fields are assessed. Promising initial results suggest further investigations in a clinical setting.
