Title: Optimized Workflow for Integration of Pre-operative Images into a Intra-operative Imaging Application
Abstract: Mobile imaging applications have become a common appliance in hospitals all around the world. Furthermore server based storage systems, so called Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), for images generated during clinial work are widley used. But nevertheless the connection between those two parts is often missing. Either is it often impossible to view previously created images during a procedure on a mobile device nor is there seldom a convinient way to archive the images generated on this device. The goal of this thesis is the comparative examination of different possible workflows to transfer existing images to such a mobile imaging device and the implementation of one of those. First step during this process is the retrieval of a so called worklist entry containing the basic information about the patient in order to being able to map all work done on the device back to the correct entries in the database. With this information the image database can be searched for previously taken images of the patient. These images should be transferred to the device as convinient as possible for the physician and displayed registered to the correct patient’s position on the live camera image. After the procedure the new images can be brought back to the PACS by a similar technique.
