Content

This seminar aims at discussing aspects of medical robotics that engineers traditionally tend to oversee:

  • the legal aspects,
  • the ethical aspects,
  • the societal implications,
  • human-robot interaction from a sociological/anthropological point of view,
  • and ergonomics.
Students will work in small teams over the semester to discover one of these topics by reading material provided their tutors, performing their own literature research, and discussing the topics during regular meetings with all seminar participants (and the course organizers, obviously).

  • The date of the preliminary meeting changed: it is now THURSDAY, 30th of June at 9AM, instead of Wednesday as initially announced.

Registration

  • TUM students: Register in the matching system for the course registration between 01.07.2016 and 06.07.2016 (link). Keep in mind that your chances to be assigned to the course increase if you give it a higher rank in your choices.
  • Exchange students without TUMonline account: Please send a nice mail to Marco Esposito () to indicate that you want to participate, including your name, your birthday, program of study and Matrikelnummer (if you already have one). We will then enroll you in the course, given you match the requirements (Master's student).
  • Maximum number of participants: 12

Regulations

Students will be assessed over the course of the semester on the quality of their presentations and contributions to the common discussions. Each team is expected to write an 8-page summary paper at the end of the semester.

  • Presentations: Each team will be asked to summarize their findings in short presentations during the regular meetings and in a longer, 15-minute final presentation. Use the CAMP templates for PowerPoint  camp-tum-jhu-slides.potx, or Latex:  CAMP-latex-template.zip.
  • Written Report: A document of maximum 8 pages is written and submitted one week after the final presentation. Please download and use the  CAMP Seminar Latex template. Alternatively, you can also use the LNCS Latex template llncs2e.zip directly from the Springer website.
  • Attendance: Participants have to participate actively in all seminar sessions.

The report must include all references used and must be written completely in your own words. Copy and paste will not be tolerated. Both report and presentation have to be done in English. -->

Schedule

The seminar consists of a preliminary meeting, an introductory meeting and seminar sessions. All seminar participants are expected to be present at every session and to actively participate in the discussions.
