Recovery of Surgical Workflow: a Model-based Approach

Surgical workflow recovery and analysis is gaining more and more importance for the design of intelligent surgery rooms. In this work we used Hidden Markov Models to segment the surgical phases of a laparoscopic operation, using tool usage information obtained within the operating room.
