I am a Research Scientist and Manager at Google, and a Lecturer (PD) at TU Munich.

At the CAMP Chair?, I coordinate the computer vision team.

I am particularly active in the area of 3D/RGB-D perception and applications of deep learning to computer vision.

The fields of application of my research are mostly in robotics, healthcare, augmented reality and autonomous driving.

My research activity has been sponsored by industrial partners through research projects in computer vision and machine learning, for which I've acted as Principal Investigator and academic supervisor. Industrial research partners included:

  • BMW and Audi, on the development of computer vision and deep learning technology for autonomous driving
  • Amazon, on the development of algorithms for monocular SLAM and semantic mapping
  • IABG, on the development of 3D mapping algorithms for UAVs
  • Zeiss, on the development of computer vision technology for retinal microsurgery interventions
